“Leaving cost aside for a moment, there are some really very worthwhile aspects to this design, not least the excellent contrast and colour representation. Even in a daylit room the projected image seems punchy and sharp, assuming the target wall is sufficiently smooth and not strongly coloured. There also isn’t excessive lag involved in the image decoding, so it works well for console gaming, especially on racing games or flight simulations. What’s missing here is some of the refinements we expect in modern technology, like lots of HDMI ports, Bluetooth and wi-fi as standard. Without these features, you’re left with just great image size as the primary draw. 7/10”
“Forget the PJD7830HDL's lacklustre blackout performance; anyone interested in home cinema perfection will just have to pay more. This cost-effective DLP all-rounder is firmly aimed at the use-it-anywhere crowd, which all projector makers must surely aim for to popularise the practice of watching truly big-screen movies and games. In most regards, the PJD7830HDL does really well, with an excellent daytime image and speakers that deliver the finest audio performance from a projector yet. Add that low, low price and ViewSonic just came up with a bargain all-rounder that's hard to resist for anyone who wants a slice of the big picture. 4/5”

“Despite the odd traces of a rainbow effect (which I could only detect in certain conditions) I can still wholeheartedly recommend this projector for the price! It delivers for the most part on picture quality (FULL HD) and this is further enhanced by the excellent audio quality! While purists may want to step up on the model for a more permanent solution, I think its portable nature offers a great compromise! At the end of the day you need to ask yourself did I enjoy watching films or playing games with this projector and I can happily say ‘Hell Yes!’. So if I had the money to spend I would not be disappointed with this projector whatsoever!”
“With an extra screwable foot, a USB socket inside the second HDMI compartment and a firmware fix to the flashing source switching I’d be happy to give this Viewsonic projector full marks. But even as it stands, this is an impressively capable machine for £579 at the time of writing, a price which includes the rear cable management cover and might, if you shop around, also bundle in a stout canvas-style carrying case.”
“The ViewSonic provides a bright image and a slot for an HDMI stick. In addition, the projector offers many presentation features and good sound and a cover for the ports. Test: GOOD Value for money: VERY GOOD”
