Students or shared-room users can change device settings

Applies to: Manager Advanced Settings Lock; Profiles

Issue

Users in a shared classroom or shared room can access the display's settings menu or change its configuration.

What to check first

Work through these steps in order:

  1. Confirm the affected device has an active Manager Advanced license, since Settings Lock is an Advanced feature.

  2. In Manager, create or edit a Profile and enable the Settings Password option under Preferences, which requires a password to access ViewBoard settings.

  3. Assign the Profile to the affected device or device group.

  4. After assigning, check the Profile Assignment Results to confirm the setting was applied successfully rather than showing Error or Offline.

Additional notes

Some additional points that may be useful:

  • Settings Lock / Profile Settings Password controls access to the ViewBoard settings menu. It is a separate control from any device-level PIN or passcode prompt shown to users on some models; that behavior is covered in a separate article and has not yet been confirmed as configurable through Manager.

When to contact Support

Contact Support if the Settings Password has been applied and confirmed successful in the Profile Assignment Results, but shared-room users can still change device settings.
